Catwalk-Trends Fall 2013 & Winter 2014

Brandon Sun

Knowing where one’s strengths lie and knowing how to work them is a talent. Brandon Sun Fall 2013 did just that and delivered his best performance to date.

He has an uncanny ability to work fur and leather and we couldn’t be any happier with this well-crafted collection.

Dennis Basso

Dennis Basso’s collection was nothing short of phenomenal. It was the house’s 30th anniversary, after all, and as it turned-out, this line-up opened the gates to a whole new chapter in the Dennis Basso story. His eveningwear and ready-to-wear reached new levels of sophistication with beautiful touches of alligator, lace and embroideries.

One particular standout of Dennis Basso Fall 2013 was an embroidered cable-knit dress that evaporated into sheer chiffon – superb and so unexpected.

Michael Kors

Michael Kors Fall 2013 proves that the designer remains the undisputed King of American Sportswear. Collection after collection, he gives a little of that American dream with references to Aspen and Vermont.

New York City is driving Michael Kors Fall 2013 looks as he balances downtown and uptown styles without breaking his fashion vocabulary.

Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs’ latest fashion show felt like a series of cinematic stills looking at everyday life through a fashionable lens. The myriad of looks infused everyday clothes with that unmistakable Marc Jacobs runway editorial touch.

The simplicity of looks read modern, the choice of materials – pairing lamé with wool, sequin with fox – added to that late 60s, early 70s vibe for Marc Jacobs Fall 2013.

Yigal Azrouël

It’s no secret that Yigal Azrouël favors looks that enhance the female silhouette. For a few seasons now, the designer has used small knits to swath torsos, belts and peplums, zoning-in on the midsection. His stovepipe or PJ style trousers serve to elongate legs.

Yigal Azrouël Fall 2013 keeps women comfy, enveloping them in chunky sweaters and coats.

Carolina Herrera

A 1940s inspiration was clear throughout Carolina Herrera Fall 2013. From the models’ abstracted rolled hair to squared-shoulder gowns and jackets – to PJ pants – something 40s was definitely up.

As usual, the selection was beautiful and elegant – the way only Ms. Herrera can do it

Pamela Roland

Pamella Roland Fall 2013 showed a definite departure from the designer’s previous two seasons. The mood was much darker this time, as was the color palette of black, midnight blue and plum.

The delivery was much more dramatic, if not slightly Gothic.

Hervé Léger

The classic Hervé Léger bandage dress is, of course, on the menu for Fall 2013. But to the surprise of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week audience, this season’s creative energy came from the famed French artist-couple, François-Xavier and Claude Lalanne.

Their whimsical surrealist work came to life in the form of unexpected flora and fauna references.

Chado Ralph Rucci

To say that Chadò Ralph Rucci Fall 2013 was triumphal is an understatement! The collection was one of his best in years, one elegantly expanding on the Rucci legacy.

Chadò Ralph Rucci is an intellectual line, one layered with a multitude of nuanced nods that honor the métier.
